Sunday 13/05/2012 – Bourne End

Out again today on another fine and sunny day, but still with a sometimes stiff breeze.

Took the ’308 out to Wraysbury, then pedalled my way through Datchet, Eton, and Dorney to Taplow.

Berry Hill was woefully ascended, but nevertheless despatched, and the reward for this effort was some outstanding views overlooking Cookham.

A brief stop at Jenners for a Coffee acted as a prelude to my return, this time cutting through Bray, and following the ’308 again back through Windsor, & Runneymede to St.Annes (immenently upon-Thames).

A final flourish through Laleham & Shepperton led me to Sunbury, then it was all over.

Nice Day, Nice Route, Quite a happy bunny!

Friday 11/05/2012 – Frimley

Best day fo the week so far weather-wise, so I arranged to meet up with the venerable Wozza for a ride.

Decided that it was about time that I tried some new routes out, you know, the ones that you see on the maps and think “I know where it’s going, but what’s it like to ride on?”, so off we went.

Both Weybridge, and Addlestone were painfully busy, and then the until now unencountered roads through towards Horsell Common weren’t as agreeable as I’d hoped for, so a lesson learnt there. Things improved somewhat going through Knaphill, but I still think that on balance, my existing route down to Pirbright is better.

Back on less well-trodden tracks, we headed down to Farnborough to recce alternative sections for the well established “Poole Run”, which I’m hoping to ride again later this year. This actually proved to be a worthwhile exercise, and will hopefully improve the early parts of this adventure.

Up to Frimley we travelled, and Cafe stopped at Frimley Lodge Park, where a welcome slice of Lemon Drizzle cake was accompanied by a Cappuchino.

Our return trip was along the Gapemouth Road, with a slight deviation to Pirbright, then past Chobham Golf Course, and Foxhills to Chertsey, where we carried on back to our start.

Some useful information gathered today – both good, and bad points – but still a very worthwhile ride. Average speed wasn’t exactly quick, but that was in part due to the heavy traffic and headwind in the early stages of our adventure.
